Reduce Swelling

Follow the guideline and the instruction of doctor or and surgeon to avoid and to reduce the risk of swelling after getting done the tummy tuck surgery. The following are also some of the ways that helps you reduce the risk of swelling :

1> Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day. You may think that drinking water will add to bloating and water weight, but the actual culprit is constipation. Taking pain medication in the work of your recovery will cause constipation, which can add to the swelling of your stomach in the work of recovery. Constipation can be remedied by drinking water.

2> Get a massage. Ask your surgeon if massage treatment is best for you. In the event you had other surgical procedures done simultaneously as your tummy tuck, your doctor may recommend another activity, like gentle stretching & walking, to help circulation. In the event you get the go-ahead, wait weeks after the procedure before getting a massage. Tell your masseuse that you won't be able to lie on your stomach, & to be gentle around your stomach area. The massage will help your blood flow & assist with the drainage of lymph liquid that can build up in the body & cause tissue swelling.

3> Start walking around the block on the first day, you feel comfortable walking short distances. Then, continue to increase daily walking speed. However, do not go running, doing sit-ups, or stretch your hands over your head, because these activities will increase swelling and prolong your recovery time.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing this. Ever since I started working on losing weight, I've been considering the eventuality of how my body will look once I reach goal. I know there's going to be a LOT of extra skin (there already is, and I still have a ways to go). I still haven't decided, but being able to look at other people's experiences is very helpful.
